MAORI TATTOOS

You can see some of the traditional tattoo designs here. Originally, ta moko was done with chisels (for scarring) rather than inking. These days, thankfully, it's done with ink! Men were formerly tattooed on their faces (full face), buttocks, and thighs; women on the chin. M

NATIONAL ANTHEM

God Defend New Zealand/Aotearoa: Sung here before All Blacks v. Wallabies test match. The anthem is sung first in Maori, then in English. Lyrics are slightly different in meaning. Maori lyrics are more about unity.
